Brookings Institute Touts Pay-As-You-Go Insurance as a Solution for Society

New research from the Brookings Institute reports that Pay-As-You-Go Insurance programs are a successful solution to current issues facing today's drivers.  Pay-As-You-Go Insurance programs encourage drivers to drive less, drive green and save money in the process by rewarding drivers with an insurance discount when they drive less and cut back on unnecessary driving habits.

The Brookings Institute research compared standard auto insurance quote rate procedures to an all-you-can-eat-buffet, where current auto insurance premiums encourage drivers to drive more. The study also found that lumping all drivers in the same insurance category means more accidents, congestion, carbon emissions, local pollution and dependence on oil.

The Brookings Institute research on Pay-As-You-Go Insurance reported that "if all motorists paid for accident insurance per mile rather than in a lump sum, they would have an extra incentive to drive less."
